Here at R O M E E L A, we use different high-quality metals and plating to craft different items due to the complex nature and uniqueness of some of our designs. Our jewellery will not turn your skin green. 

Materials and plating we use

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is an alloy of chromium and iron, therefore it has amazing qualities such as durability, resistance to rust, discoloration, water-safety and is tarnish-free. It is sustainable as it is 100% recyclable and produces less waste during its manufacturing process. Stainless steel is also hypoallergenic and therefore safe to wear.

925 Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is an alloy composed of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling Silver is highly durable, tarnish-free and hypoallergenic. It is also sustainable as it can be easily recycled over and over again. With the proper jewellery care, it can last around 20-30 years, however with daily wear and exposure to chemicals and moisture, premature tarnishing may occur within the first couple of months to couple of years. 

Brass

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and is a great metal in jewellery making due to its durability and sustainability. Our brass jewellery is lead-free and nickel-free, however we would not recommend it for those with skin allergies just to be on the safe side. If you do not have skin allergies to brass or copper our brass jewellery is safe to wear.

18k Gold Plating

We use 18k Gold to plate some of our jewellery for a beautiful high shine, a rich and luxurious look as well as durability. This plating prevents corrosion, and can last over two years by following our jewellery care guidelines. 18k Gold Plating is made out of 75% real Gold and 25% other alloys such as Copper and Silver to help the plating stick to the metal. This type of plating is hypoallergenic.

Rhodium Plating

Rhodium is used to plate jewellery as it gives off one of the best sheens achievable. It is resistant to dents, corrosion, does not tarnish, and acts as a shield to prevent scratches. It is great for those with skin sensitivities therefore it is hypoallergenic. 

Diamond Simulants (Cubic Zirconia)

We leverage cutting edge techniques allowing us to emulate the brilliance of diamonds at a fraction of the cost. By doing this, we ensure our products are not harming the planet or the individuals involved  in creating them. Cubic Zirconia is the best real diamond alternative. They share many of the same amazing qualities such as high durability, beautiful shine and with the proper care, Cubic Zirconia can last decades. With daily wear, Cubic Zirconia can last about 2 years due to contact with chemicals causing it to lose its shine. Allergies

Allergies to jewellery are generally caused due to sensitivity to nickel, lead and cobalt. Naturally, traces of nickel and lead are present in the environment. A high amount of nickel is what generally causes allergies in jewellery. 

Those with skin allergies to copper or brass should only purchase our 925 Sterling Silver or Stainless Steel jewellery and not our brass jewellery. Please read product descriptions carefully for the specific metals used for each item of jewellery.
